Welcome Letter from Donald Robertson

Hello and welcome,

This is a short mini-course designed to quickly teach you about Stoic pain management techniques, and how to apply them in daily life. You'll find an introductory video, followed by some guidance on using the techniques, but the main resource is an audio recording containing instructions to guide you through the use of various Stoic psychological exercises, which you can listen to online or download.

NB: This is the beta version of the course. You've been granted access in exchange for providing feedback that might help me revise the content and improve the final version for future participants. The current audio and video recordings are demos – good enough to use but they'll eventually be re-recorded at higher quality.

Please feel free to contact me if you feel stuck or have any questions. I'm always happy to help. If you found this content helpful and want to support my work, take a look at my Patreon page and consider becoming a patron.

If possible, please use your real name in the discussion areas and set up a Gravatar for yourself with a profile image. I find that helps make discussions seem friendlier and more informal. You can edit your user name and other profile settings.

After the introductory video there's a discussion area for you to say hello and introduce yourself to other participants, followed by some information about how to gain the most benefit from the downloadable audio recording. Click the Complete and continue button at the top of each page to navigate to the next section.

Updates: I'm currently working on a new section containing some brief notes about research and some more examples of people who have used similar strategies to cope with severe pain.

Thanks for taking part and good luck with the course,
